HALIFAX - Halifax saw action at the landing of the British Royal Navy in Boston 1775, and was most famous for her role in the burning of the port of Falmouth, Maine in 1776, the year of the American Revolution. This new exquisite version of the kit uses state-of-the-art laser cut wood and includes a new and detailed photographic instruction manual.
Born as a packet-boat, Halifax was purchased in 1768 by the Royal Navy and transformed at Portsmouth England into a typical colonial schooner of the time. These alterations included raising the cabin platform to obtain more storage space below, elevating the bulwarks with openings for the 6 guns and building a new railing with 6 culverins. The outer changes made to the hull as well as to the masting and rigging deeply altered the original aspect. The sources concerning the life of this ship are extremely contradictory. She sailed prevailingly along the American coasts in a rather complex period of the history of this country.
The paint sets for these kits are historically accurate colors that have been specially formulated for model ships. They are high quality acrylic based paints that can be thinned with water, thinner or alcohol. They clean up easily with water, making them ideal for airbrush use. Brushed or sprayed, paints dry flat with good grain structure and a smooth finish. The colors contained in each paint set are based on the colors shown in the picture of the model. 1 oz. bottles
