Information

U.S.S. Samuel B. Roberts, DE413 | Butler-Class Destroyer Escort. On October 25, 1944 the famed Taffy III battle group engaged a superior Japanese force, in the Southern approaches to Leyte Gulf, Philippines. Even though overwhelmingly outgunned and suffering numerous casualties including the Roberts, Hoel, Johnston, and Gambier Bay, Taffy III forced the Japanese vessels to retire in one of the most heroic, modern sea battles. Bluejacket’s model is based upon a design of Mr. Bill Hudson, with revised plans and instructions by famed WWII modeler and author, Dr. Al Ross. Al has created a model that is one of the most exquisitely detailed and accurate models ever offered. The kit contains a basswood hull, cast pewter fittings, laser cut wood parts, and a great deal of etched brass. The kit is in 1/16” scale to complement Bluejacket’s models of the USS Kidd and USS Gambier Bay. It is important to note that some pictured items may have been built with optional items not included as part of standard kits, such as pedestals, bases, cases, paint, etc. If there are any questions about the contents of a particular kit, please contact Bluejacket.
